Classes

The emphasis at our studio is on smaller classes and individual attention. We create a fun, positive and friendly atmosphere for your child to grow and improve their skills. Our door is open for dancers of every age and every level, and beginners are welcomed with open arms.

BALLET: 

Ballet is the foundation of all dance styles and helps the dancer build strength and control with various movements starting at the barre.

Pre-Ballet
Ages 3-5

This is an introductory dance class for your child to learn basic ballet positions and movements, including ballet, tap and tumbling.

Beg. Ballet
Age 6+

This is a beginner-level introduction to ballet, focusing on basic ballet movements like plie, tendu, and développé work mostly at the barre and teaching beginner ballet terminology. No previous experience is required.

Int. Ballet
Ages 8-10+

This is a moderate-level class that introduces more challenging terminology and barre work. The first half of class is spent at the barre learning technique, while the second half consists of across the floor and choreography.

Adv. Ballet
Ages 10+

This is an advanced-level class that requires previous ballet knowledge and experience, and is good for dancers wishing to go on Pointe. Dancers will be challenged and are expected to know terminology and be aware of their own turnout and flexibility in order to improve each week. The first half of class is spent at the barre learning extensive technique, while the second half consists of across the floor and choreography.

Teen/Adult Ballet
Ages 12+

This is an advanced-level class perfect for aspiring ballet dancers. No previous experience is required. Dancers of any age are welcome and Pointe shoes are encouraged. The first half of class is spent at the barre learning technique, while the second half consists of across the floor and choreography.

Pointe
Age 11+

This is only a class for students who have previous ballet experience. Pointe shoes are required and students are responsible for replacing their shoes when necessary. This class is focused on teaching students to dance on Pointe correctly, and instructors will work with students personally.

 

JAZZ: 

Jazz dance incorporates ballet technique often with fast energetic moves, big leaps and quick turns.

Beg. Jazz
Ages 7+

This is beginning-level class that combines jazz and lyrical dancing. No previous experience is required. Basic technique and choreography such as various leaps, jumps and turns will be taught by instructors.

Int. Jazz
Ages 9+

This is a moderate-level class that continues to build on knowledge learned from beginning jazz/lyrical class. No previous experience is required. Intermediate technique and choreography such as more complex leaps and pirouettes will be taught by instructors.

Adv. Jazz
Ages 12+

This is an advanced-level class that challenges dancers with unique and expressive choreography. More advanced technique and choreography such as leg extensions, split leaps, and fouette turns will be taught by instructors. Dancers are expected to keep up with technical moves and have some previous training.

Jazz Technique
Ages 12+

This class focuses on jazz technique of flexibility, strength, turns, leaps, jumps and progressions across the floor. A foundation of ballet training is suggested but not required to take this class.

 

LYRICAL: 

Lyrical dance is a fusion of ballet and jazz dance techniques.

Beg. Lyrical
Age 9+

This is a beginning-level class for students interested in learning how to gain control with their dancing and begin to use more fluid movements. Dancers will learn body control as well as muscle strength and coordination.

Adv. Lyrical
Age 12+

This is an advanced-level class for students interested in dancing at a more mature level. Students will perfect body control as well as muscle strength and coordination.

 

CONTEMPORARY: 

Contemporary dance incorporates styles from classical, modern, and jazz dancing.

Int. Contemporary
Age 9+

This is a higher level class that challenges dancers with unique and expressive choreography. Dancers are expected to keep up with instructors and some previous ballet training is encouraged though not required.

 

TAP: 

Tap dance is a form of dance characterized by using the sounds of tap shoes striking the floor.

Beg. Tap
Age 6+

This is a beginning-level class that introduces basic tap steps such as shuffles, flaps and ball changes to dancers. No previous experience is required.

Int. Tap
Age 8+

This is a moderate-level class that builds on skills from beginning tap. More difficult steps such as riffs, pull backs, buffaloes and time steps are taught and some previous experience is required.

Adult Tap
Age 9+

This is an advanced-level class that requires previous tap knowledge and experience. This class is meant to challenge tap dancers with tricky new steps and combos as well as teaching dancers new skills such as wings.

Adv. Tap
Age 9+

This is an adult class meant for students age 18 and over.

 

HIP HOP: 

Hip hop dance refers to street dance styles primarily performed to hip-hop music or that have evolved as part of hip-hop culture.

Hip Hop
Age 7+

This is a fun, high energy dance class for dancers for all levels. No previous experience is required. Students will learn various hip hop moves, isolations and choreography set to age appropriate hip hop music.

 

BROADWAY: 

Broadway dance incorporates ballet, jazz and modern dance styles and often allows the dancer to play a role or character.

Beg. Broadway Jazz
Age 8+

This is a beginning-level class that teaches both broadway and jazz technique and choreography. Students will focus on jazz technique of turns, leaps, jumps and progressions across the floor. No previous experience is required.

Adv. Broadway
Age 12+

This is an advanced-level class that requires some previous jazz or broadway experience. Dancers will work on perfecting sharp movements, pirouettes, muscle strengthening and conveying personality through their dancing.

 

COMBO CLASSES: 

Combo classes are beginner level classes designed for young students that combine multiple styles of dance.

Beg. Ballet/Jazz
Ages 5-8

This is a beginner-level introduction to ballet and jazz. Half of the class is spent on each style where very basic steps and terminology are taught. No previous experience is required.

Int. Ballet/Jazz
Ages 7-9

This is a moderate-level class that focuses on more specific ballet and across the floor technique training. Half of the class is spent on each style. No previous experience is required.

Ballet/Tap
Ages 5-6

This is a beginner-level introduction to ballet and tap. Half of the class is spent on each style where very basic steps and terminology are taught. Tap shoes are required. No previous experience is required.

 

TECHNIQUE/CONDITIONING: 

Technique and conditioning classes are designed to help dancers improve their strength, flexibility and technique throughout the year. Solely technique classes do not learn a routine for the recital.

Beg. Ballet Technique
Ages 8+

This is a purely technique class meant to teach dancers correct body positioning, improve turnout, work on balance, flexibility, strength and knowledge of ballet terminology. Most of class is spent at the barre where instructors are able to give dancers personal attention. No previous experience is required.

Int. Ballet Technique
Ages 12+

This is a purely technique class meant to help dancers perfect their body positioning, turnout, balance, flexibility, strength and knowledge of ballet terminology. A higher level of training is expected for intermediate technique as combinations at the barre are more difficult. Most of class is spent at the barre where instructors are able to give dancers personal attention.

Jazz Technique
Ages 12+

This class focuses on jazz technique of flexibility, strength, turns, leaps, jumps and progressions across the floor. A foundation of ballet training is suggested but not required to take this class.

PERFORMING GROUPS: 

Our performing groups commit to learning dance routines and performing them at competitions or exhibition shows throughout the year.

Junior Performing Group
Ages 9+ (Invite Only)

The Junior Performing Group meets on Sundays from 4:00-6:00 pm. Along with strengthening and technique, this group will learn one dance per year to perform at exhibition shows and compete. The first half of the year, students will work on this routine extensively to perfect as much as possible. The second half of the year, students will begin performing and competing their dance in various shows across Arizona.One ballet class per week is also required to be a part of our Performing Groups.

Senior Performing Group
Ages 13+ (Invite Only)

The Senior Performing Group meets on Saturdays from 12:00-1:00 pm. Along with strengthening and technique, this group will learn one dance per year to perform at exhibition shows and compete. The first half of the year, students will work on this routine extensively to perfect as much as possible. The second half of the year, students will begin performing and competing their dance in various shows across Arizona. One ballet class per week is also required to be a part of our Performing Groups.
